The Maze An FBI Thriller Catherine Coulter Books
Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock? Who knew what a great team they would make for the F. B. I. It begins with Sherlock locking herself away with thoughts of being hunted by a killer. This all happened after the murder of her half sister Belinda. So instead of going to Berkeley to study music and then on to Juilliard. Seven years later she was at Quantico catching the perp and it was Savich. He was so impressed that he had her reassigned to his unit. The Criminal Apprehension Unit. Here she would might have the chance to find out who murdered Belinda, in a maze with only a piece of string to follow as he made her "walk the walk". It was so captivating that I didn't want to put the book down. Catherine Coulter has an uncanny way with words and dragging you into the story. What a thrilling ride! I give it six stars. Your going to love it.

The Maze An FBI Thriller Catherine Coulter Books Reviews
This book is advertised as a thriller but it is definitely not that. If I had to give it a label, I'd call it a "chick book." Yes, I know that is sexist, and I really do not like being sexist, but I just don't see any men wanting to read this book. I'm not very far into it and I don't think I'm going to be able to make it to the end. The lead character is a female FBI agent, which is promising. The book starts with a nice action scene that doesn't last very long, then is basically all about the female lead's feelings - about the handsome guy she works for and whether he likes her or not; about the girl she works with who is envious of her relationship with the handsome boss; about the former boyfriend and whether he has a new girlfriend or not; whether the cops she deals with like her; whether her arms are too skinny; OMG just kill me now. When they get around to arresting a serial killer, she's not even there and so there is no description of the actual arrest. That's a missed opportunity. The dialog is completely bland. Maybe at some point this book has some actual action in it, but I'm not sure I will be able to put up with all the "does he like me / does he not like me" stuff to get to that point.
Characters are tough, intelligent and exciting. The story has so many twists and turns you never know what character is involved in the mystery. Couldn’t wait until I got to the final page to see how everything comes together. Great read!
This is the 2nd in the series. I like how she develops her characters. Savich was in book 1 but you didn't know much about him. Just he was a computer wizard for the FBI. When Sherlock starts with the FBI and things start happening to her, Savich begins looking into things via his computer. What is a hoot is his computer has a persona all to itself. It changes from MAX to MAXINE and back again. The cases get you hooked. It gives you an idea what the FBI really does for all of us. Their training and expertise. Thank heavens we have them. You will enjoy this book but as always with a new author start with her first book FBI book The Cove then read this one. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy!
If you have the time, read my other reviews of her work.
This was clearly an early effort.
Lacy Sherlock, one of the main characters lacks depth here.
I had read later works with her (Lacy Sherlock) character present in passing. I was hoping to have a better understanding and thus more of an appreciation of her from this book. No delivery here.
I almost wish Ms. Coulter would have written the character development work after the later works.
This is one of my favorite authors, so I bought the Audio book for my Dad who has poor eyesight. He didn't like it at all, so he gave it back to me. I tried to listen to it on a road trip with my sister and both of us could not listen to it.
It wasn't the story. It was the voice of the woman. Instead of just reading the book, this woman was trying to imitate the voices of what she thought the characters might sound like. It was ridiculous and annoying.
Why can't they just get someone with a pleasant voice to just read the darn book.
A waste of money, in my opinion.
This is one of my favorite books. I can't tell you how many times I have read this book. Each time I read it, it’s still as good as the first time I opened that very first page. I love the author of this FBI series. Each book in this series is a stand-alone, so you can read them out of order. The character’s in each of the books drew me right into the plot.
Lacey Sherlock met Dillon Savich when she was still in her FBI training. After she graduated she was assigned to his special unit. Lace’s sister Belinda was murdered by a serial killer when Lacey was only 19. That changed Lacey’s life forever. Her goals in life changed. She threw herself into her studies. Her only goal was joining the FBI, so she could find the man that took her sister’s life. Being a part of Savich’s unit gave her access to databases she needed in order to search and take down the string killer.
I loved the action, suspense, and romance in this book. If you like thriller /Action books with a touch of romance, I think you will enjoy this one!
The plot was the same as in The Cove. Completely implausible and inconsistent. For example, if the killer used a string to lead the victims through the maze, then how could they have taken any wrong turns which led to dead ends? Were there several strings tied together so that there was a strand to lead in each direction? How is it ever a secret who your sister is, especially if you grew up in the same house together and one sister is the victim of a serial killer? I will not be reading any more books from this author.
